#FAILATIVE

Ways to creatively deal with failure. Fail & creative gives #Failative

It comes to everyone. Some fear it; others have the courage to deal with it. No, I am not talking about death. FAILURE. One that forces some to tumble & fall off the ladder; while the exceptional brave all odds & go further with a promise to learn from the mistake keeping it a thing of the past.

All kind of people face letdowns. The hardworking, the indolent, the preacher, the spiritual. Not one achiever has reached his full potential if not for his ‘bad fate’. Failure is like the uninvited Sunday guest, which no one is too fond of. Even if treated well, there stands no guarantee that it won’t come back to you again!

I have personally been through it too. A major change it brings to a person is, it makes you grounded. It is for you to decide whether you want the jolt of the catastrophe to destroy your high flying ego or you. One low does not mean you start to rethink your purpose of living. Suicide is the cruellest punishment a person can give to himself. No matter what, it is very important to know that life is beautiful.

I quote Truman Capote-
“Failure is the condiment which gives success its flavour.”

There is a different high one experiences on having emerged from a downfall; something which is incomparable to having won all challenges of life.

My aim is not to glorify failure, but to present solutions, in case of occurrence of one. Remember, the world makes an idol out of an ordinary only when he achieves. It is tough out there for a second chance! One personality trait which comes in handy during the difficult time is a good sense of humour. Laugh off the burden of having lost!

Atychiphobia is the fear of failure. It has been noticed, that more than failing at attempting to do something, people tend to avoid the attempt itself. What’s the harm in trying, I say! Having been defeated in a battle is much superior & respectful than having run away from it.

We should consider ourselves lucky to have been born in this period. There is an array of options to choose from, so failing at one of them, is no big deal! Unlike about a few decades back, we can now work in any profession. Education is also now available in almost any area of interest. Try different hats, one size doesn't fit all.

Having a clear goal in head is the best way to avoid failure at it. When we know from within where we are heading to, losing our way is nearly impossible. Focus is what we all lack. One thing at a time. Multi-tasking is not a feat, but just another word for ambiguity.

Humanity measures success by the amount of money you have made, which according to me is a wrong assessment. Success, according to me, is when a person is content with what he has accomplished.

Never fear failure. It is the annoying mosquito which bites you & sucks a little out of you on each arrival. All you have to do is grab it into your fist & finish it.

Stem Cells

A dvertisements of umbilical cord banking have been surfacing for many years now. To quieten my curious mind with the many doubts I had about this therapy and its importance, I spoke to PhD students working in the Vascular Biology lab of Principle Investigator Prof. Maneesha Inamdar in Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research . Here are excerpts from my discussion with them on their research. In layman's terms, what are stem cells and why are they important? Deeti Shetty:   Stem cells are of different types based on their potency. Pluripotent cells are cells which are most primitive; they give rise to an organism. Interest was born in Embryonic Stem Cells (ESC) because from these cells you can give rise to all cell types in your body. They self-renew & they can also differentiate into various types. We study the transition of embryonic stem cells to adult cells & also how these cells are formed. And what are the medical applications of stem c...

Pink Beach

Pink Beach is the story of India's largest salt desert, the temples and palaces of Gujarat. This trip that a bunch of us took to Gujarat a few years ago starts with Ahmedabad, but only up until our flight lands there. We took a little bit of a detour before we could start exploring the city. Mount Abu is a hill station in the neighboring state of Rajasthan and isn't very far, so we decided to drive up there. Here, we stayed at Hotel Gujarat, which is an old house converted into a commercialized old house. In Mount Abu, we first went over to the absolutely serene looking and welcoming Gyan Sarovar or the Om Shanti Om complex, which is home to the Brahma Kumaris. The lessons of listening to your inner soul were repeated so many times, it's imprinted in my head now. We woke up the next day to noise of rain droplets and a foggy sky. Maybe staying back an extra day was a bad idea after all, voiced everyone. But it didn't take very long for that opinion to change as the sun ...

20 Life Lessons I Learnt by 20

1: Be good at keeping secrets. 2: Don't set your goals by what other people deem important. 3: When you expect less, you get more. 4: You will get served the exact opposite of what you'd hoped for but in the end, you'll realize that that is all you ever wanted. 5: Speak well about someone behind their back, or just don't talk. 6: Life, is not fair. It never will be. You will run out of luck when you most need it & hard work doesn't always pay off. 7: Possess the ability to find humor in even the tiniest of incidents during hard times. 8: You don't necessarily have to grab every opportunity that comes your way. It's okay to be picky. 9: Prioritize people. Your time is too precious to spend on the ones that don't really matter. 10: You can always do & apologize after, rather than ask before. But the same theory doesn't apply with words, it's always best to think through instead of having a shoe in mouth. 11: Neither success nor failure sho...
